Preview of Kirsty Doyle's A/W 10.

The first wave of this years A/W collection has already hit the rails in Kirstys boutique, with more on the way soon.

So far the collection includes camel jackets, mo hair coats (as seen) and camel or navy wide legged trousers inspired by vintage sailors. The trousers are all finished to each customers leg length. A/W10 is geared towards ultra stylish work wear and dresses that utilise Kirsty's signature draping techniques.

This year Kirsty plans to expand by doing the rounds at London fashion week and looking for Southern stockists, further placing her as a nationally credible fashion brand. Her Liverpool one store is also on the move as of tomorrow. Moving just a few doors away from the existing shop (on Manestys Lane) to a more visible location right next to Habitat. This should be complete by around mid October. In the mean time keep your eye out on the website where you can order from any of the existing collections at www.kirsty-doyle.com (full look book for A/W10 is coming very soon to website)

The Butterfly Ball-Saturday 25th September for North West Cancer Research Fund.

I've been asked to pass this one on by the lovely Anne Jackson- Chief Executive Officer of NWCRF.  At last years Ball Anne and her team helped raise over £11'000 for the charity.

Tables of 10 can be bought for as little as £550 and are great way for your company to be a part of the charity.
Call  0151 709 2919 or email butterflyball@nwcrf.co.uk to book or just check out their website.
In total the charity hope to raise between £750'000 and £1m each year so another way the help raise this money is from the Butterfly silk collection designed by Irresistible Lingerie. The Collection consists of Ivory white cami tops, Silk Pyjama sets and nightdresses all decorated with the Butterfly silk motif.

P.s. Good luck Anne.

Chantelle Tagoe- Return of the Wag.

With Footballs fever pitch dieing down after the defeat by Germany last Sunday. Chantelle Tagoe, this years hottest Wag, is still dominating the gossip columns..

Here's her biog from her website.
Fashion TV presenter Chantelle Tagoe, 26 is the stunning fiancĂ©e of Aston Villa and England striker, Emile Heskey. This Liverpool born natural beauty is steadily carving out a great career in her own right in the world of fashion and TV.

Having already secured a slot as one of the main presenters on Fashion TV - as well as hosting a number of premium charity fashion shows - Chantelle also appears this summer in the BBC series special, ‘Wags, kids and World Cup Dreams’. Leaving behind her fiancĂ© and two children, Chantelle travelled to this year’s World Cup host country to gain an understanding of the reality of daily life in some of the struggling South African communities.

Upon her return, Chantelle organised and hosted a charity event with Harvey Nichols raising nearly £40,000 for the South African Charity while building awareness of the charity and its work.

Chantelle is soon to appear in Channel 4’s much loved ‘Celebrity Come Dine With Me’ which will air in June 2010. It will be interesting to see if the notoriously unflappable Chantelle - who was nicknamed by the production team in South Africa ‘the Laid Back Lady’ - will reach fever pitch under the culinary pressure…We think not!

These are a few of the shots we've done for interviews, columns and stories in the nationals.

Matthew Moore goes T-total with his label Modern Love.

Product Designer- Matthew Moore, known more for his unique lamps and furniture pieces, has just took what used to be a hobby one step further.

Picture by Matt Ford of Matthew Moore (wearing his own design)

While on a personal P.R. trip 'down South', Liberty of London menswear buyer spotted Matthew wearing one of his own T's. Knowing Matthew as a designer he asked how many more were in the collection. Unfortunately the T was, at the time, a one-off just for himself. Never missing an opportunity, Matthew replied, "There's an eight-piece collection in the pipe line." Before he knew it the collection was ready to go, and is on the rails in Liberty as we speak.

Matthew's label, now called Modern Love, seems inspired by a contradiction of elements; with graphic sharp lines and shapes mixed with earthy imagery. Matthew tells me the collection feels very romantic because of the use of roses, cherry blossom and stars; even the simple graphic shapes discretely reference to love symbolism.

The SS10 collection is also available in Liverpool ONE at Kirsty Doyles Boutique (at the side of Urban Outfitters). We will be shooting the full SS10 collection really soon as well as the AW10 and it will be posted on here as well as the forthcoming Modern Love website. But for now here's a taster lifted from Matthew's Facebook.

Sakura Restaurant- Exchange Flags.

This may not be my usual type of post on here, but I've just seen the final website with the finished animations and press placements using my shots, so why not stick a little blog about it out there.

Sakura is Liverpool's first authentic Japanese restaurant situated in Exchange Flags. (Pardon the plug) From first hand experience I can guaranty the food is like no other in Liverpool, thanks to the internationally head hunted chefs.
Take a look at there website for all the info.

Plus read about it on Core Designs Jurnal. The people behind all their forthcoming press adds.

Graduate Fashion JMU- 2010.

Come May, for fashion students all over the country, it is a challenge not to go into complete designer meltdown as final collections are finished and the last touches added, or as has become common, months of work are completely scrapped and redone in the final weeks. But when the season of graduate fashion shows rolled around this year, assured that the quality and originality of collections this year was set to be even better than the last, I went to go and see the graduate fashion show at Liverpool John Moores University with fashion photographer, Matt Ford, to see whether this years batch of budding designers could live up to expectations and pick out our favourites to shoot with…

The standard this year was incredibly high, both in standards of quality and finish, and in design. Some showcased daring innovative fashion, while others chose to keep with strong classic styles and add a modern twist; some managed to seamlessly blend in with this season’s major designer collections.

After the show we rounded up a few of our favourites to chat about their inspirations, aspirations and snap them with their clothes.

Twenty two year old Megan Woodhouse’s collection centres around a theme of protection; suits of armour and shells. “Well clothes are a form of protection,” she laughs, “cheesy as it sounds!” Structured shapes in soft pastel chiffons combine with creamy suede linings to make for a collection that is both classic but still very current. Megan’s main focus is Luxury Womenswear, simple with an edge, and her dream job would be working for Dolce and Gabanna, whose clothes are a complete contrast to her style, “It’s probably the reason why I want to!” She says the muse for her ready-to-wear designs is young, funky, but classy with her own style, and that’s just what I think her collection reflects.

Chio Ohajuru specialises in both couture womenswear and accessories, a combination which she is sure will make her stand out from the crowd, when, if her dreams come true, she starts her own label as an independent designer. Chio plans to make her label completely unique by offering women what she calls “the full M.O.T.” whereby she offers the clothes and styling, accessories, make-up and hair. So who is the woman she designs for? “She’s glamorous, stylish, unique, clothes for her a need not a want” Her collection of sculptural pieces used a palette of only white, while her origami-esque bags came in every colour of the rainbow.

Taking inspiration from her favourite designer, Stella McCartney, Shelley Harris’ collection of sophisticated, wearable sportswear exudes effortless athlectic chic with hints of this seasons pastel tones. Harris places impact of wearability and she says they are perfect for a woman who “is active, not a glamourpuss.” If she doesn’t go on to become a fashion designer, Shelley says she would like to teach Fashion based courses at university, to pass on the knowledge she has aquired herself.

Sharon Fernandex designs her contour fashion womenswear for “the average, twenty-five year old elegant sophisticated woman” paying great attention to detail and looking at many textile aspects. With this collection cleverly capturing the essence of nature and having a vintage aspect it’s no surprise that Sharon dreams of working for a world
renowned couture house. “Working under Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel would be amazing!” she beams. Her collection is luxurious but fresh, think flowing chiffon cut in an exciting new way paired with delicate flowers. And the standout piece? Definitely the exquisite camel coat with silk flower detailing.

Chantelle Mooney’s chic collection achieves “maximum drape  with minimum seams,” by using immaculate pleating and rather unforgiving fabric! She said the stretchy fabric was a nightmare to work with, but the work has definitely paid off as she has created an expensive looking collection that is effortlessly beautiful in dusty pastel tones. Her muse is about 25, confident and fun loving. Chantelle says she wants her to be able to go to work in one of her pieces, then throw a pair of heels on and go for a night out. After uni, she says she wants to  design ready-to-wear collections to sell in her own boutique because she doesn’t like the thought of having no say in the design in  a big company.
